Chery Automobile Co.
Chery Automobile Co. said it exported 52,100 vehicles in the January-April period, a 69% increase from the same period last year. The figure accounts for 29% of Chery's export target of 180,000 vehicles this year, which would be a 50% increase from 2007. In a statement posted on its Web site, the Chinese auto maker said the number of vehicles exported accounted for 38% of its total unit sales in the period. Export revenue in the same period was 2.31 billion yuan ($333 million), up 82% from a year earlier. It didn't give comparison figures. Chery has been pushing to sell more vehicles abroad, and plans to export cars to new markets in the second half.
